Really large, really nice adult pool with excellent service, views, everything. The tranquility pool may be the thing that sets this hotel apart.

The breakfast benefit is full buffet access - a really good buffet with omelette station. Certainly better than what you usually find in South Florida. Friendly and efficient and consistently very good, if not a bit mechanical sometimes. Service was pretty much excellent all the way around. If you have kids it appears all rooms have a kitchenette - helpful. Note that no elite late checkout was granted after requesting, though of course none was owed. We were very happy with the suite and certainly a fantastic redemption value (the base room itself was well over $1000 cash cost at the time we booked). Bathroom being made entirely of marble has held up the best. Will say the decor and the materials feel a bit dated and worn in places. Two huge balconies facing out onto the ocean… the best part of it by far. Full living room, den, dining room, kitchen-ish area. Suite was fantastic on 8th floor and very large. So clearly the hotel does in fact treat elites well at least on some occasions (this is reference to some comments upthread). And we were upgraded… to a one-bedroom Atlantic Suite.

Room wasn’t ready, unsurprisingly, as it was 10am and we decided to wait in hopes of an upgrade as opposed to asking for first room available. Check in was great if not a bit perfunctory. Great location for Bal Harbour - directly across from the Shops. Didn’t bother using an SNA since this property doesn’t allow you to SNA into suites, only nicer rooms, and all rooms here have a at least a decent ocean view.Īrrived early Saturday morning. 100K points redemption for a standard king room. Quick review of a recent Sat-Sun stay in December 2021. Were they able to resolve anything for you? While this situation did not arise until Thanksgiving Day, one would still hope at a hotel of this caliber there would be someone working who understands the issue and has the authority to admit their mistake and resolve it.So sorry this hotel is causing such an issue - very disappointing to hear.
As we are scheduled to head to Miami Monday evening it would be nice to get a fair resolution in the near future. Have not heard anything about that either. After they relayed to the Titanium Desk supervisor that I had to accept what was offered or pay a $2,000 cancellation fee Ito get my SNAs returned, I said to let me know if they wanted to cancel my reservation at NO Charge and return my SNAs. However, given their responses so far, that is doubtful. If they were gracious they would do more than the minimum as this problem is of their making. We would be happy if they would simply upgrade us to the Astor room or better and kept the upgrades. Just heard from Marriott Lurker who said they are reopening the case with the hotel. They are a poison that has wrecked countless customer-property relationships that have endured for years by encouraging and normalizing this kind of behavior by staff and management.

Marriott long ago killed off anything left of these once favored properties that actually knew how to treat guests. Years ago my aunt lived in the adjacent building to the north of the hotel and had an issue with their pool needing to be rebuilt, and the hotel graciously allowed residents to use the St Regis pool and chairs for the duration of the project - that was classy, and they certainly made good money on the endless drinks and poolside food service ordered by the visiting residents - but a reflection of a former time which, like vintage Miami itself, is a remnant of a bygone era. Part of the issue is the fact that Miami is, after all, a trashy third world dump of a place (I lived in FL for 30 yrs and am entitled to my opinion), and the arrogance oozing out of this Bal Harbor property is just incredible and not a reflection at all of how it was managed or behaved when it was a Starwood property.
